Discoveries
It was Mothers Day here last Sunday, and not one for only being spoilt once a year (my lot know to spoil me everyday!) we decided to explore a piece of shoreline we hadn’t yet visited.
Doing our usual of just picking up the map and pointing to a place, we decided to try out West side of Wellington, with a trip along to the end of Plimmerton, and take a walk along the stretch of coast that runs from Hongoeka Bay right round to Pukerua Bay. It was a gorgeous day too, so it was going to be lovely.
Driving through Plimmerton is just gorgeous, it would be an amazing place to live, and some of the houses right on the ocean are jaw dropping. As you drive to the end of Plimmerton towards Hongoeka Bay you reach a sign that tells you you can drive no further, as its private land. However you can take your feet and paws, so that was lucky! If you fancy this walk yourself – click here for more info.
The walk was lovely, through an old quarry and right round the bay looking out towards Mana Island the views of the South Island.
The photos say it all really, we passed probably two people the whole way, and found some big crabs hiding under rocks which was great fun. Mother Nature must have been treated well as it was just so lovely, bright and warm. We all had a lovely day, and it was a perfect ideal treat for me!
